History

"Cycle with us through time"

1958

This was the start of LandRider, the founder Donald Waterland, started his bike shop in The Hague. Soon enough he realized that there were enough shops in The Hague to supply in the needs of the city. But there were not enough people truly specialized in the craft as he was.
So 1958 was the year that LandRider Bicycles started to supply high quality bicycles to bike shops.

1962

Little by little he started supplying bicycles to shops all over the country. This time together with his son Willem Waterland. His son had great visions of expanding their market on an International level. Starting with more diversity in their products by developing racing bicycles which was very popular because of the increasing popularity in the sport in Europe. So the expansion was realized in only Germany and Belgium.

1968

Willem’s vision became reality this year, as LandRider expanded to more countries into France and The United Kingdom. LandRider became a known household brand.

1975

The year that Donald Waterland died and left the company to his son Willem. Willem opened up the market to potential investors. LandRider became a public company with Willem as main shareholder with 63%.
Willem had a lot of modern ideas about riding a bicycle and wanted to differentiate LandRider from the increasing of competition in the market. But with innovation, he still wanted to remain the spirit of his father of being true to the land and the people.

1983

Keeping innovation in mind, the difragmator bicycle holder was LandRider’s biggest success in its innovation mission. With this, LandRider showed its market that it was more diversitile than the competition and could supply the retailer in more ways.

1990

This year was really big for LandRider, the winner of the biggest bicycle race of that time was using and sponsored by a LandRider bike. LandRider became well known by many and the company received a lot of good feedback.

1999

Under Willems leadership, vision and strength, LandRider was available in more countries in Europe.

2001

Willem resigned as a CEO and put a promising manager with lot of experience in charge of LandRider with him and the Waterland family still remaining the main shareholder. The new CEO, Fitrya Kramer, promises to uphold the eco-friendly image that LandRider has built and to pursue sustainability in every part of LandRider.

2008

Within few years, LandRider reached to the top and won the award for most sustainable business in recreational branch; the sustainable business awards 2008 honored achivement.
